Whew! Glad this weekend is over

This was the weirdest weekend for me. I’m glad it is over.

Now I can focus on May. I have some new things I’m going to try for training. I was looking on Runner’s World and found some interesting tips.

- Yasso 800s - These are very interesting. If you want your marathon time to be 3:00, then you need to get your 800s to 3:00 minutes

- Hill training - running uses a lot of quad fibers, so hill training strenthens these.

- Thought about step training too. At my church there is a set of stairs that will be a great workout

I’m also busting out my runner’s book to see if I can get more tips from there too.

Happy training! Peace out! ;-)

Take it for whatever it is

…Interview with God

This is a pretty cool video..not profoundly godly.

Just makes you think. The pictures are great! Music got to me after awhile, so you can turn it off.

Enjoy though. Makes you think!

Thanks Sweat365!!! I didn’t think I’d be in the running (no pun intended) for anything!! ;-)

Daily ‘Kick in the Butt’ quote

Some runners judge performance by whether they won or lost. Others define success or failure by how fast they ran. Only you can judge your performance. Avoid letting others sit in judgment of you (Runner’s World)

Wow if this was not me just a month or so ago! After various injuries because of TIME or DISTANCE pushed, I just RUN now and I actually enjoy it. I’ll admit I still look at my watch to see what my pace or distance is, but I don’t judge my run on it. I listen to what my BODY is telling me. Injuries are not worth the time off recovering. The only thing I want to be recovering from is a kick ass marathon. ;-)

Daily ‘Kick in the Butt’ quote

When you put yourself on the line in a race and expose yourself to the unknown, you learn things about yourself that are very exciting (Runner’s World)

I love it! The only race I’ve put myself on the line for was the Nike+ Human Race. Wow! What a mind blowing experience! I’d never been so nervous about anything in my entire life, but when the gun went off..I WAS OFF! I looked down and I was averaging a 8:39 pace and did so for the 2.5 miles. Then I only dropped down to a 9:05 for the remaing miles. When I went back on my watch my fastest pace was a 7 something. That had to have been the last .2 of the race. When I rounded the corner and saw the finish line, WHOA  nelly! I BOLTED!! When I finished..I was breathing hard but I had never had so much fun! The exciting thing I learned about myself that day was..I really do like to run!

Myself from a year ago would call me CRAZY! I would tell her the same thing that I tell everyone else who says I’m crazy for running..

Only CRAZY people can run marathons! :-D

What we have here is a failure to comm-un-icate!

No clue what is wrong this week. It has been so BLAH! I’ve been getting to bed at anywhere between 11:00pm and 2:00am. With no real remembrence of anything I’ve done. CRAZY!

I did have a bit of a workout walking from 12:30pm to 1:30am at Diseyland on Monday. Maybe that is my problem. Standing in lines all day, and then going to work and standing for 5 hrs. I just wish my body would go back to the way it was BEFORE I injured it. I know it will. It just takes time. Not like I’m training for anything right now. :-(

Although I’m contemplating a Mission Trails Run here in February ‘09. It’s a 15k. That would be interesting. 9.3 miles and rugged terrain. Always good on the knees :-D Would be a new experience for me.

I’m gonna take the next couple days off too and then run on Sunday.

When you think you have it bad..

..there is ALWAYS someone in a worse predicament.

I had a little wake up call today when I got to work..that made me step back and re-evaluate my life and the troubles I’ve went through.

When I got to work, my co-worker told me that the manager’s boyfriend beat the living daylights out of her and she was at the hospital with broken bones in her face and that she is going to need surgery. I was like WOW!!! I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and how lucky I was even with what I’m going thru. I just started thanking God for what I DO have, and one thing I used to have..a husband that might’ve had some things that needed adjusting (don’t we all)…but he loved me, made me laugh almost everyday, never cheated on me, and he NEVER hit me. I hope to find another like him someday. :-)

The things this ‘happening’ got me thinking about thatI have are ~

A job - may be part-time, but at least I have one.

Running - still amazes me to say that. Cool though. Some people can’t

Somewhere to live - might be cramped, but at least there is electricity (for my fan I can’t live without), a bed, and warmth. Oh and can’t forget about a  shower. Whew!

A car - although if the car didn’t work, I could probably RUN to work ;-)

A son - who loves me. May not listen to what I say, but I don’t know what I’d do without him. He helped me emotionally get through this last year. Some people don’t have, want, or can conceive children. To me that is sad. I hope to maaaybe have one more

A family - that’s a nice one. I don’t have ‘friends’, but I got family.

Health - some people are overweight, have cancer, and other diseases

I’m sure there are more examples, but I’m really sleepy.

Bottomline is…when you think you have it bad..there is always someone in a worse situation than you ;-)

Rainy days..like ‘em or not??

I don’t mind rainy days…as long as I’m inside ;-)

They are the days where it would be better if they were on a non-working day…like a Sunday and ya have a fireplace. I hope my house (the one I might have one day…whether I rent it or own it. LOL) has one. Then you can build a fire, snuggle up under a blanket, and watch a movie with a cup of Bailey’s and coffee.

This is what I think of to keep my mind off of other things. To hold back the worry. Thoughts like these snuff it out!! I have quite a picturesque imagination :-D
