I’m diggin’ the course for the Nike+ Human Race in LA
I just checked out the course for the Human Race in LA. I’m totally diggin’ it!! There are 3 turnabouts. It’s like my training runs. I mostly do ‘out-n-backs’. I’m faster on the back than the out. LOL I still have no clue why they have it at night though. Probably cuz of the concert after, but this is the first race ‘I’ know of that is starting at night and not in the AM at o’Dark hundred

We’ll see though. It’s my first 10k and I’m a little nervous..why I have absolutely no clue??? I don’t know any of these people. I’ll never see them again. Why does one get nervous before a race

The race is most likely at night in your area because runners all over the owrl are running at the same time…therefore, some countries, cities, continents will be running early in the morning or mid afternoon, and so on. but tons of people running all at the same time!!! Sound like a cool deal. Make sure you enjoy it thoroughly.
I ran a 5k last winter at 8PM (it gets dark at 4:30 here in the winter time) and it was snowing and 22 degrees. It was awesome!!!!!!!

I tried to map out the route today on Google Earth, it’s cool!
Not in the best part of LA, but since we will be in a closed course with thousands of other runners, it should be fine!
I dig the fact that the race starts at night, given that it is a holiday weekend, no work on Monday, I can party after at the concert and sleep in. I am excited about the race. I am picking up the packet race packet tomorrow at Nike Town in Beverly Hills and I’ll do a training run with them in the evening.
It’s ok to be nervous a little before the race, you will do fine! You’ve been training and you are definitely ready! Good luck on Sunday, I’ll see you at the Coliseum.
GK..I think it would be interesting to run in the snow. Although, I don’t know how much traction there would be. I found out that even walking on the dirt at Rohr park is what is making my knee and hip joints and muscles hurt. I will totally enjoy this. I know I have to STRETCH REALLY GOOD! On my last train run I did, and hit helped. I still feel tension though
LuLu..I’m picking my packet up at the Torrance Sports Chalet on Saturday before I check into my hotel. I’m taking my son. He’ll have to stay in the hotel while I run. They said no one at the start or finish without a ticket. I’m not going to the concert either. Might go somewhere after
Good luck to you too!
It’s too bad your son can’t be there at the finish line and join you at the concert. My daughter is very disappointed because she love Kenye West and only participants with race t-shirts are allowed in. I told her I’ll hang out after and take pictures for her.
I have a training run with the Leggers at 7:30 Saturday morning for 9 miles (recovery run). I’ll hope my legs will be ok on Sunday.
Enjoy the Southbay on Saturday and Sunday!
Good luck and be great!
Thats cool that Lulu is going to be there, hopefully you two can see each other at the finish.
Running in the snow…not bad actually, but its nice to have trail shoes for traction, and wool socks to keep the toes warm. But when you are running and it is snowing…there is nothing quite like it, amazing feeling when the flakes hit your face and melt away and you get back home and get yourself a big ole cup of hot cocoa (maybe add some “extra ingredients”) and just relax by the fire. Running in the wind and sleet is a whole different monster though! OUCH!
Have fun this weekend with your run. Find your inspiration and run with it (whatever it may be) and have fun! don’t forget to fill us in after the race.
How was the race??!! =)
